The new rail route from Hyderabad
Now that the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla line is open, you can reach Srinagar by train the whole way. It works as two legs:
- Leg 1 — Hyderabad to Jammu Tawi 35–40 hrs to Jammu Tawi. Take an overnight service so you arrive in the morning.
- Leg 2 — 26401 into Srinagar About 4h 55m through the Pir Panjal tunnels and over the Chenab bridge. One of the most scenic rail stretches in India.
Train numbers and timings change with the railway timetable — confirm on the Indian Railways enquiry before booking.
